Sub-grid Auto Reload Limit has Changed in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013

By - April 24, 2014

Those that worked with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 know you can insert more than four sub-grids on a form. However, only the first four will be loaded automatically when you open the form. The fifth or rest of the sub-grids will have this link for you to manually click to open it to view the data.

You can bypass this by using custom JavaScript to refresh other Sub-grids.

After doing an upgrade from Dynamics CRM 2011 to Dynamics CRM 2013, I noticed you do not need JavaScript to automatically reload the fifth sub-grid anymore.  The Dynamics CRM 2013 form seems to have been upgraded or increased the limit of reloading sub-grid altogether.

I noticed on my Account form in Dynamics CRM 2013, it automatically reloaded all 7 Sub-grids without any custom scripts and does not require me to manually “Click here” on any of the 7 Sub-grids on load of the form.

While this is not a big change, it is worth noting this eliminates the need of developing extra custom scripts when loading the form, and definitely convenient without having to manually click in the sub-grid to view the data if there are more than 4 sub-grids.
